DIRECTIONS

From Kingman and Arizona I40 exit 53, head east on Andy Devine Blvd (Rt 66) about 49 miles to beautiful Peach Springs, capital of the Hualapai Indian Nation. From Seligman and Arizona I40 exit 121, north to Rt 66 then west about 34 miles.

Turn south on Diamond Creek Road and head maybe 0.1 miles to the BNSF grade crossing. West Peach Springs CP is about 1.7 miles railroad west and the dirt path along the north side of the tracks seems to be reasonably reliable. Don't know what it would be like in rainy weather, though. Be careful.

COMMENTS

Note that at this time, Switch 2W does not exist. The west end of the Peach Springs siding ends at a manual-throw switch approximately 0.5 miles railroad east. However, Signal 3EG is in place, but turned to face across the main. It looks like the BNSF is preparing to complete the siding between West and East Peach Springs, but hasn't finished the job. There's a lot of fill that needs to be added to provide the subroadbed for the remainder of the siding. However, the track indication for the siding does appear to be working, so 3EA maps to K38.

Do yourself a favor and get food and fuel in Kingman or in Seligman before you head out this way. Note that you are on tribal land eveywhere around here.

As of December 2002, cell phone service is really bad here in the Nation. So if your car breaks, it could be a long walk. Carry water. Summers are hot, winters are cold. It snows here as Peach Springs is nearly 5000' AMSL.
